ISCP goes dental
06 June 2013

The Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Program (ISCP) has now opened across many of the dental specialties; oral surgery and orthodontics are now online, with (at time of writing) oral medicine, paediatric and restorative dentistry following from May 2013. Remaining dental specialties will follow in time.

The ISCP has been refined over many years in the surgical disciplines. Individual curricula provide guidance to the trainee about the requirements of their chosen specialty. Via a series of work-based assessments (WBAs), the trainee journeys through their specialist training from Year 1 to the certificate of completion of training.

The conference normally does include a GDC-recommended subject but this time, two areas were covered along with subjects relevant to the GDC Learning Outcomes of 2011.

Held at the Leeds Marriott Hotel for the Yorkshire Deanery trainees, the day was organised and hosted by Brian Nattress, RCSEd Regional Dental Adviser (RDA), and was attended by over 90 recent dental graduates from across the country.

This was the first of what is hoped to be many more UK-wide events to help Dental Foundation trainees.
