"Regional adviser, Nigel Taylor was invited to present the RCSEd Academic Medal to Corporal Victoria Bull, Royal Air Force, for the highest academic achievement in the June 2006 examinations"

The Faculty of Dental Surgery was represented at the Military School of Dental Hygiene graduation ceremony in June 2007. The Regional adviser, Nigel Taylor was invited to present the RCSEd Academic Medal to Corporal Victoria Bull, Royal Air Force, for the highest academic achievement in the June 2006 examinations. The Military School of Dental Hygiene is based in Aldershot, Hampshire, and is a Tri-Service training establishment, with students and staff from all three of the Armed Forces; the Royal Navy, the Army, and the Royal Air Force. Students sit their examinations in Edinburgh but may not have an opportunity to attend the graduation ceremony, often due to military postings. Therefore, the decision was made to bring the College to the students.

The Graduation Ceremony was held at the home of the Defence Medical Services, Keogh Barracks, in Ash Vale, attended by the Director Clinical Services Defence Dental Services, Air Commodore D Amy QHDS Royal Air Force.

Fourteen students graduated and the ceremony was attended by more than 120 guests including families, friends, and military personnel. The prize winners from the class of 2007 were: Corporal Sarah Hynds, Royal Army Dental Corps, who achieved the highest academic mark in the final examination; Leading Dental Hygienist Lindsey Lynch, Royal Navy, who achieved the highest mark in the clinical presentations and final viva, and Corporal Tara Pile, Royal Air Force, who was awarded the Tutors’ Prize for outstanding coursemanship.
